7 weeks of cycling in Turkey in pictures
Before entering Turkey, we were warned by parents and friends back home about cycling through this country. Despite their warnings we entered Turkey in late December. We experienced warm welcomes, surprised faces and great hospitality during this cold season. After cycling from the Georgian border to Izmir in approx. 3 weeks, we spent a whole month with our Turkish friends, Fatma and Alper, relaxed and went climbing in three different climbing areas. Just before leaving the country by ferry, we spent another wonderful evening with a warmshowers family and visited the school they teach at. We experienced Turkey as a country torn apart by their politics, but we never felt threatened or in danger. I'm glad we didn't skip this country, as it was once again a beautiful experience, and I hope we were some kind of inspiration or change from normal life for those we met along the way.
